Rolf Sturm

Rolf Sturm is a NY/NJ area guitarist who has performed and/or toured with banjo pioneer Tony Trischka, drummer Billy Martin, country singer Eddy Arnold, the Argentinean tango group New York-Buenos Aires Connection, the Grateful Dead big band Illuminati, klezmer clarinetist Giora Feidman, and the Walter Thompson Orchestra. He also leads his own New York City area bands Feed The Meter and Just Cause, and he co-leads the Jazz trio Tricycle.

Rolf has toured North America and Europe, performing at the World Expo 2000 in Hannover, Germany, and at Lincoln Center and Town Hall in New York City. He has performed on soundtracks for both film and television and has released many CDs on the Water Street Music label. Rolf has recorded dozens of CDs as a sideman, appearing on recordings with Loudon Wainwright, Glen Velez, Maggie Roche, Ike Willis, Dave Douglas, Cameron Brown, Jorma Kaukonen, David Johansen, and Pat Boone.

His music has been featured on National Public Radios All Songs Considered and his last solo guitar recording, “Balance”, was awarded 4 stars in DownBeat magazine.  He has an active duo with singer Jenna Mammina and is a member of “Tomas Ulrich’s Cargo Cult”, the silent movie/live music band: “4FiveVI” and he co-leads the NYC trio “Tricycle”. Rolf is also a member of the “Strike Anywhere Performance Ensemble” and the “Walter Thompson Orchestra”.

Rolf appears in the Music Festival for the first time along with jazz singer Jenna Mammina.  Their combined talents will certainly move our attendees.
