Karina Burkhanova

Karina Burkhanova was born at Izhevsk, Udmurt Republic, Russia the 6th of June 1990. She began studying violin at the age of 5, and graduated with honors from Middle Special School of Music (Izhevsk), The Republic`s Music College (Izhevsk), The N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory (Saint-Petersburg). Karina has participated in several competitions: Republican Violin Competition, Izhevsk 2004, The International Competition for Young Musicians «Tchaikovsky’s Homeland» 2006, Votkinsk, The VI Youth Delphic Games of Russia 2007, Yaroslavl, International Violin Competition of M.G. Erdenko, 2007 Belgorod and The National Competition of Young Violinists «Magic Bow» 2008, Nizhniy Novgorod, winning and receiving special recognition.

Karina has an extensive experience on stage, performing as a soloist, orchestra and chamber artist. As an orchestra musician she collaborated with the Symphony Orchestra of Udmurt Republic, the Chamber orchestra of St. Petersburg conservatory, The St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic, The Baltic Youth Philharmonic working with renowned conductors such as Neeme and Christian Jarvi, Kurt Mazur.

In 2013 Karina started her own electro/acoustic violin project playing in massive commercial & corporate shows, to mention some, a Concert tour across Russia with Mariinsky, Moris Bejart ballet artists (2013), The Closure Ceremony of Open Tennis in Acapulco 2015 and Arena presentations with singer Cristian Castro (2019) playing her own compositions and arrangements.

Karina has also participated in several music festivals, as a soloist and as an orchestra artist playing in different musical genders: classical music, pop, rock: Usedom Music Festival (Germany), Dresden Music Festival, Schumann Festival (Düsseldorf), XI International Conservatory Week Festival (Saint-Petersburg 2011), Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (Germany), XVI Young Talents Of The Tchaikovsky Homeland Festival (Izhevsk, Votkinsk 2014), Merano Music Festival (Italy 2011), Arvo Pärt Festival(Estonia 2011), Young Euro Classic (Berlin 2010), Wall-to-Wall Behind the Wall Music marathons (New York 2010), The 55th Venice Biennale 2013, Operetta Castle Kaunas (Lithuania), and the San Pancho Music Festival (Mexico 2018).

At the moment she is working on her own (composition and pre-production) project of her first album in which she sings, plays the piano and the violin.
